This project is unique in many ways. The site holds memories of generations. Swedish King Oscar II was involved on the site more than one hundred years ago. Buildings served as summerhouses both functionally and technically.

The building housed under 40 years the disco ”Oscars”. On site there is also what used to be a small summer hotel, called “Turisten”. Incomes from summer activities were not for more than 50 years able to finance ordinary maintenance of premises. Both disco and hotel are closed since 2004, largely due to the deteriorated state of the buildings.

In pre design process Cullberg Architects have focused on finding a suitable character evolving from traditional wooden Marstrand Architecture that will enhance and enrich the unique waterfront and townscape. Extensive study of details and modelling both in scale 1:20 and 1:165 have been important in finding right approach.
Planning process is ongoing, and a result of all reports produced for more than three and a half years in close cooperation with town planning commitiée and municipality of Kungälv.. In July 2007 project was presented in an exhibition on site. More than 700 visitors. 200 comments were written in guestbook. 95% were very positive to the new design
